Frýdlant Castle and Palace is one of the most visited historic sites in the Czech Republic. Over the centuries the original Gothic stronghold was transformed into a vast, richly decorated Renaissance castle with extensive collections of immense historical and artistic value. The houses in front of the castle are also of historical value. As early as 1800, the first castle museum in Central Europe was opened at Frýdlant Castle.
