Jakuszyce is a district of Szklarska Poręba and, at the same time, home to the most famous cross-country skiing centre in Poland. The Jakuszycka Glade hosts numerous sporting events, both international ones, such as the Piast Race or the World Cup, and smaller ones, such as the Polish Cup or the Karkonosze Cup. The unique microclimate, which keeps snow on the ground for a long time, makes Jakuszyce hugely popular among cross-country skiing enthusiasts. The Jakuszycka Glade is also the venue for unique sporting events such as Border Rush, one of the most demanding European mid-distance sled dog races. The events held in Jakuszyce are winning cross-country skiing ever more new fans across various age groups.
